About the West Virginia Grind

West Virginia Grind is a professional basketball team in the TBL (The Basketball League). The West Virginia Grind Team was established in 2023 to bring the professional sport of basketball to the Kanawha Valley as a family-friendly entertainment option for Charleston and surrounding communities.

We plan to involve and support as many small business throughout and our journey bringing people together. 

Our name is a representation of the hard working people of West Virginia who grind everyday.

Mission:

To provide quality family friendly entertainment while offering a platform for players to showcase their talent at a professional level.  We are passionate about promoting a positive inclusive community engagement experience.

 

 

Meet our General Manager

Stephanie Casey a General Manager in the hotel industry, who is also well-known and highly respected in the community throughout the Charleston and surrounding areas of the state of West Virginia. Ms. Casey holds many important positions with various organizations that involve decision-making and connecting businesses, and organizations together. She’s a mother, family-oriented, and passionate about the state of West Virginia. Her role was solidified with the West Virginia Grind before the Grind’s inaugural season in 2023. With her experience and passion for the game of basketball. The owner of the team knew she was the right choice. Ms. Casey holds high standards for the West Virginia Grind organization carrying out the mission of the TBL (The Basketball League) organization.

Meet our Head Coach

Wayne Casey a legend in his hometown of West Virginia. Having the opportunity to play overseas and in the NBA with some of the greatest in basketball history. Coach Casey has a drive like none other when it comes to the game. His love for the game, his work ethic, and ambition for the game is impeccable. Coach Casey is about structure, character, and fundamentals. He believes that with the right staff, the right team, and the right infrastructure. The West Virginia Grind will always have some of the most competitive team members and the best opportunity to go all the way. Coach Casey believes in pouring into the guys, showing them that if they believe anything is possible. Just as he did throughout his basketball career. Which has led him to be the person and coach he has become today. Coach Casey has high expectations for the West Virginia Grind and its organization having involvement with the TBL (The Basketball League) organization.
